Your reason for remaining anonymous on the boards?
by starfish422 injust wondering why you choose not to use too many identifying facts about yourself on the boards?
is it to protect yourself, or others?.
for me, i have nothing to lose where the dubs are concerned, and initially my profile was pretty extensive.

(he was what a jw would call an unbelieving mate.) i thought he's right. i'm on the road to psychological freedom. go me!!!!! (yeah i felt a little guilty after i realized but oh well. i said bless you once last month too. i'm pretty comfortable with my happy birthday's.

Humourous, yet interesting questions
by RAYZORBLADE intime to crack the stuffiness out of ourselves today.
well...let's say, everyday.. i'm going to have some fun here, because well, anything besides that, is no fun.. questions, questions, and more questions, and what will the answers be?
you decide.. 1. are you an exjw, but still have remnants (shhh) of former jw thinking?.

1. Are you an exJW, but still have remnants (shhh) of former JW thinking? yes and yes 2. Are you 'out' there? as in, not afraid to be seen on an apostate site, or known to be a former JW? i'm out there at home and hiding in the closet online. 3. Are you angry, bitter or sad, as a result of your exposure and participation in JW activities/lifestyle? yeah, i guess i am! 4. Do you still have this feeling 'Armageddon' could still come anyday or in the future? unfortuneately, yes. 5. What was your biggest epiphany that lead you to leave the JWs, or at least make plans to do so? the u.n. thing. 6. Do you still read/believe in the bible? sometimes. 7. Do you still believe in god/higher power? yes. 8. Do you accept other exJWs with opposing views than yours: athieism/agnostic vs. belief in god/higher power? (vice-versa) yes 9. Do you grade people on their disfellowshipping offenses? ie: apostacy, fornication, smoking etc. no 10. Are you still a JW? (no names required) officially - yes 11. Anything you'd like to add, for what it's worth? you live and learn.

Did You Think "Jehovah" Was Responsible For Everything Good In Your Life?
by minimus ini've heard all my life, that anytime something good happened, we should thank jehovah for doing it.
if something bad happened, like being attacked by the "demons", it was because a person didn't have the complete "suit of armor" from god.
i know many of the "friends" that credit jehovah god for giving them a sunny morning, a pay raise at work or an end to their cough and cold.....were you one of those that believed jehovah was behind everything that happened in your life?

it was either that (the debil) or just how things and life worked out.

half heartedly - yes. good excuse as any. but my sister totally does. i can almost hear tears over the phone. 'i never could have done this without jehovah's help!' now, i'm thinking - yeah right. with not a little bitterness over the whole being lied to thing. and a little embarrased because maybe, just maybe, she's right.

First Christmas
by yxl1 inwhen we first left the dubs, we celebrated x-mas pretty much straight away, but had no decorations or tree, and only gave gifts to each other.
for some reason it just seemed wrong to put up decorations and we continued to celebrate this way for about 5 years.
we decided to put up decorations when it was my daughters 1st x-mas, and have never looked back.

this will be my first also. i really want to put up a tree and all the decorations but i feel as though i'll deeply distress my family who are still in. they may come to visit and get the shock of their lives. i don't know if they'll be more distressed that i'm celebrating or that i still haven't faded back in. at any rate, i have children who i want to give a special season to.

by truthseeker indoes anyone have this experience.
in our cong, there are a lot of pioneers, i know most of them.
yet, all i hear when i ask how they are doing is that 'i need my time!

---"It seems that 'saving people's lives' is less important than 'getting their time in." i never thought of it that way. yet another piece of proof.

Vacationing with a Witness
by DevonMcBride inthe end of october i'm going on a 9 day cruise to the caribbean with a group of 70 people.
one of the the travelers is a jw and it will be interesting to see how "worldly" she will behave away from her jw clan.
at our christmas party (that's right she was at our christmas party) she got drunk and she buys christmas presents for her grandchildren who are not jw.

just enjoy yourself. remembering that she is only human, sucked into the jw rules like you were. whatever you do, don't go to a hall on vacation. i was always amazed at the dub ability to visit a local hall wherever they were vacationing. :)

How Do You Handle Death?
by minimus infor most witnesses, the ressurection hope keeps survivors going.
i knew of some jw's that were in such denial that they would want to believe that "they're just sleeping but are still alive to jehovah.
" others would bust themselves "in the work", while others would "mourn as the nations do".
